Yes, you can hook up 36v to a 24v motor but it will decrease the lifetime of the motor(but give you more power)

So my budget for this electric go cart (hopefully 20-25 mph) isn't superb so I'm looking at getting at 36 volt 1000w motor. I've read that overvolting the motor by 12 volts works best. But how long will the 36v motor last at 48V? What about a 24v motor overvolted to 36v? Thank you!
