    5HP briggs problems...

Point taken. I once sold three Briggs engines for like $30, it was the man's happiest day. EDIT: this was the site for Briggs torque curves, they all have the same characteristic. Honda curves are easy to google. http://www.smallenginesuppliers.com/html/engine-specs/briggs-engine-specs.html

    Interesting design

main ratio is 6.1:1 and interchangeable with 7.8:1 on 16 in tires the clutch is a standard centrifugal one, engages somewhere above 1800rpm

    5HP briggs problems...

Sorry everybody, yes I'm not much of a Briggs (or Briggs&Stratton or else BS engines, sorry about that again). They have an Animal engine right? That's the only race purpose engine I know they build but I have no experience with them so please enlighten me. I'm open to suggestions, but take a...

yes, sorry for the confusion, so 55-60 km/h is the ballpark speed at 4500rpm. This is my estimate. The tunning is not fully done but I needed to get the ad out there for the summer. If it comes down to it and I can't improve the engine response, I will update the ad accordingly and take my fall...

Nothing personal, but for a Briggs engine, yes throw it out. Or donate to a lawnmower charity.

yea, measured with a digital tach while riding. Idle was just about 1800 rpm so it's probably right. The thing is without the bigger jet, it's having a hard time coughing up the extra power and begins to stumble. Also, gearing is 6.1:1 but the wheels are 16in. I just bought a sprocket that will...

    Interesting design

Just ran it after the engine mods.. WAY too lean. High flow intake, high flow exhaust, exhaust insulator and governor removal--all under standard #72 jet, #90 still on back order :toetap05: I feel a lower gear ratio will be better. Before and after engine mods, the engine speed was 2900 max...

New pictures: http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-other-2012-ruli-kart-made-in-Canada-W0QQAdIdZ386568168 I tried to show some of the drive/suspension details. I hope to make a video of it running this weekend. <still waiting for that jet order grrr>

I thought I knew how to read tires...

Simple question, what is the compatible rim diameter and width? Look at 22900 for example: 8.0/11.0-6 -my guess the width is 8.0in, but table says 7.25. ok maybe they rounded..up? next, -next, rim size should be 6in, why do they recommend 8.5-9in?? -the only thing that makes sense is the...

    2-seater go kart

Just spotted this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yhw13gdjKgM I think it is better than side-by-side. Anybody have good experience with 2-seater karts?

    What is your dream engine?

The 6hp engine karts are a fun class of their own. But we still have some guilty fantacies about others. What engine would you harvest for that dream kart? 1. The authentic 6hp ;) 2. Riding mower 3. ATV-sport 4. ATV-utility 5. Snowmobile 6. Motorcycle-road 7. Motorcycle-offroad 8. Scooter 9...

    Electronic Carburettor Adjuster

I don't know what exactly is being adjusted. Jet size? Doing so many adjustments could really damage the engine if the limits of lean and rich are unknown. Flow over the carburetor is also questionable. On the other hand, it seems that pro kart racers are after jet adjustments every time they...

    CVT with 5 speed transaxle

depends on the engine though! if you can get 7-8k rpm+ then gearing that low should be ok. motorcycles gear as low as 40:1 first gear yes, mind the durability of your parts when you do this :iagree:
