I got this frame several years ago and had it in a shed. I am more in to mini bikes and never had much ambition to get it out and get it going. Fast forward 5-6 years and I now have two young boys that would love to go for a ride with daddy on a go kart.

Its a Manco Indy Car frame (didn't get the body in the deal) that originally had an OHV Tecumseh 5hp Powersports engine. It has been repaired by the previous owner but it looks like a suitable repair so I'm gonna leave that alone. On the rear the mount for the wing broke off so I'm gonna bend up some solid bar that I will slip inside (and be welded) to make a rear bumper.

The manual says that this would have originally had 4" rims in the front and 5" rims in the rear. I plan to put 6" ones all the way around. I am gonna try the heavy duty Harbor Freight wheels in the front (gonna replace the bearings first) and for the rear I have one free spin rim.

The question...does anyone know of a replacement rim/hub/sprocket/and brake drum assembly that I can use for the drive side? I was thinking of what Northern Tool has but would like something a little wider.

I plan to run 145/70-6 or 15x5-6 or 15x6-6 in the rear. I think my rear rim is about 4.5" wide. It was off the front of a suspended go kart.

I will probably ask this thread to eventually be moved to the project section once I get started with this. I will get the frame blasted at my summer job here soon. We have a blast booth that uses steel grit. Will only take about 10-15 minutes to do the whole frame.

Just check the OMBwarehouse...

I think most (if not all) minibike rearwheels should fit.. more or less perfectly that is.

The band brake might be a problem though, depends on the actual wheel offset.
but since that kart originally came with spacers on the rear wheels anywas.. maybe you can adjust those to make it fit nicely.
Otherwise I think a different brake might be a better option (internal drum brake for example.. maybe even disc)
