Remove governor, make a header for it.

Or if doing a 100ft burnout with the front end straight up is what you call fun a large snowmobile engine swap is just what you need!

Can you tell me where the governor is, and how to make a header and what to do with it. Thank you!

A header is a neW exhaust pipe, just make one that is very high flow. The governor is inside the crankcase.

If you dont know where the crankcase is, removing the governor is not for you. To make a header, first check how you muffler is attached, if it screws in, simply take it off and buy a piece of pipe with thos threads. If it bolts on you need to make a whole new flange and weld the pipe to that. Once you have the pipe attached to the engine you can make bends in the pipe however you want, but remember more flow is better.

my boy has this same model and I have been the mechanic. But now I am stuck.

The driver pulley that is on the crankshaft has the centrifugal clutch. It attachs by belt to a driven pulley that is equipped with a small sprocket that drives the chain to the axle.

It seems that the clutch is burned. It is engaged and stuck there so tha the machine does not idle.

The clutch housing cover has a welded nut. When I try to turn it so that I can take the cover off and get to the clutch parts the crankshaft turns too.

How the heck do I get this cover off?

You can coil some nylon rope into the cylinder (though the spark plug hole). Just make sure you dont let it all fall in there.

You have a torque converter set up on that kart; not a centrifugal clutch. Take the driven clutch off the crankshaft, and you should be able to hold the rear and unscrew the cover. It can't have burnt up; it's not a centrifugal clutch. Clean and lube the rollers/weights inside the driver and reassemble. Make sure none of the springs are unhooked.

The original post is old, but dltempler jacked the thread with his own question (only a few hours ago). So STFU for a minute.

Its hard to tell, either way I was obviously kidding with the panties thing lol. And your son it one lucky dude. I've always wanted that kart. You can get some good power out of the engine. Good luck with the TC problem. I had the same problem when I modded my engine. I think it just puts out more power than the torque converter can take. I had to buy replacement parts often. The inside of the driver does have a part that can wear down over time, it did on mine. And with more power going through that TC than is rated, its going to speed up the process. Not your fault obviously. Manco's fault for not putting a stronger TC on that thing.
