Brought this home for some reason. I think I felt bad for it sitting in the junk pile of some yard.

20251113_170650.jpg

Put it on the healing rack like I've done a few times before.
Cut and remove the methhead repairs, so to speak, is the plan for now. Im not gonna assume. But he sure jumped at a few $20s

I took some pics of all this stuff, but I'll entertain you with a video. No script so excuse the rambling.

If any of yous guys recognize anything I'd appreciate the info.

I will give you guys a look at how I found some of the stuff before I removed it.

These were the highlights.
I thought I had a sprotor. Na its just sitting there.

20251113_192933.jpg

Front brake was the same. Not sure how this was gonna ever work.

20251113_200334.jpg

The gas tank mount was the best one. It was actually attached.

20251113_193040.jpg

Now im gonna have to come up with an engine.

The 300cc B&S and 40 series CVT again wont fit. This frame is even smaller in the engine area. The rear facing cylinder does it in.

I called a buddy. He has a yz250 FI and water cooled bike with a cracked frame.
Hmm. That sounds like a death wish. Ill keep him in mind but not this build.

Im wanting a jocky shift so maybe a peerless 700? Make a divorced transmission?

Saw a cool gator leather sprung saddle that would look awesome on here.

Maybe a spoked skinny up front? Like this?

Is the tank blemish-free inside and out? Thought I saw some dents.

Love the closeup video anatomy lesson. Shows that the bike appears to be of fairly decent quality and also interesting to see that it was very much ride-wreck-wrench-repeat-ed, maybe all under the same owner. Y'all go like and subscribe now, ya hear?

Eagle eye Hellion.

I thought you were talking about the logo stamped recess.

20251115_192759.jpg

I peeled off the insta-chrome and found some repairs.
Im gonna have to do a better pressure test. This has some welding in the top edge.

20251115_192828.jpg

Besides the fuel rooster and mounting flange, the rest of the tank looks fairly good inside and out.

OK guys, It's a Tecumseh, but what kind.
I don't see any case stamping anywhere.
Im not familiar with them. Im guessing a 5hp?

The PTO is tapered and non keyed so its useless for my use.

And it won't fit anyways.

20251115_181346.jpg

Are there interchangeable cranks for it? Maybe make it useful?

So let's have a line up. Go grab the usual suspects.

20251115_183221.jpg
Along with the new Tecumseh, I have a 3hp Lifan flat head. Its funny the sticker says its a 98cc and 3.5hp.

The other is a newer Derp 79. I know it runs.

The last candidate would be this Briggs 5hp flatty.

Which is so close to fitting.

20251115_200207.jpg

I could slide it foward a bit and the head will just squeek in with the carb and tank removed.

I could envision it nested in there. The match was almost there.
But...

The 1" PTO is the downfall. And I bet it needs rings and who knows what the rod looks like. It came off a wood chipper.

Don't discount a tilt engine arrangement. Lots of golden age minibikes, later big wheel Rupps and such had a tilted/angled engine mount.

How do you know it's a Tecumseh? 😁
5 or 6 horsepower probably. All the big brain engine fellas [Tecs and otherwise] are all over at that other site and if you use *the Tecumseh you will break this forum.🤯 Folks here hate Tecumsehs because they're too difficult to work on.

So by process of elimination the derp 79 is gonna take the job of powering this scoot.

20251115_205108.jpg

I have a clutch for this already. I could be riding it in a few hours. Id have to drag my feet to stop though.

20251115_205059.jpg

Got a sprung saddle and some foot pegs coming. That wheel I was looking at is actually smaller than the one on it already. Besides this one has a brake rotor and a speedometer.

First things first. Gotta have a rolling frame.
Got the tires off, cleaned the paint off the tire, and painted the rims.

Put air in the tubeless and the tube. Hit em with soapy water. Didn't get any bubbles.
Next day they were still full.
Good no leaks.

The front bearings were fine. The rears need new ones. Can't get 6001z locally. One store said they can order at 40 someodd doll hairs each. :cough:
I can get 4 on scamazon for $10.

Ask Terry about bearins. He’s forgotten more than most know.

I see remnants of light baby blue on the bike; it portends of things to come. It's only fitting that it's baby blue to be in good company with Piglet. 😄

Trying to figure out what these are.

Duh. Its a brake caliper. 🤓

20251119_165541.jpg

20251119_165613.jpg

I got one identified by a Google image search. They are mountain bicycle disc calipers. New to me.

Anywho, let's see if i can make em work.

One is complete. I cleaned it up and put some new grease on the cam balls.

20251119_170859.jpg

The other is missing the pads and uses a different style pad. Haven't stumbled across them yet.

Im not sure if they are gonna work anyways. So plans might change at any moment.
