I’m Sean. Me and my son, Drake purchased a 2022 hammerhead gts 150 new. We got it home and I began living vicariously through my son and started purchasing performance parts

and here I is as a result

2022 was a long time ago (and I am amazed that piece of crap is still running) I hereby dub thee the "China Buggy Master". All tech questions that are posted on DIYGK about Hammerheads and similar karts will be directed your way. Congratulations!

In all seriousness, happy to have you here.

On that note, maybe you can write a review on the Hammerhead GTS 150. Not many people get these new, they drag home a ratty, falling apart example from a "ran when parked" seller on craigslist. Oh man, the headache of reviving such a complex kart and most are absolute newbs and in over their heads….😭

I honestly was impressed with it other than the lag the CVT tranny causes at launch. I loaded it up from the showroom and got it home and spent 2 days after work tightening all the hardware. I have pictures showing missing hardware and loose nuts and bolts but other than that I was honestly impressed. Price was inflated of course.

The drivetrain was relatively simple to work on the GY6 motor is also in the Honda Ruckus’s so I was a little familiar with them. I did have to grind off the oem battery tray and relocate it for the MRP exhaust but no biggie. I went through a few carbs, Nibbi racing one, that was trash though. Glad I ponied up the extra cake for that rolling wrench 30.
But it’s been relatively reliable for me.
Louisiana climate can be unforgiving with the humidity. I do remember toying with the original carb. It was trying to gel up. I use non ethanol to attempt to prevent that.

Everything but the bumpers. I sent those off to be powder coated

move been in body and paint for 25+ years. So I have an unfair advantage.

Welcome. I’m a Pontiac/Gm/Chrysler guy myself. You still need a buggy to properly play with your son. Kinda well built I was checking them out at the Honda dealership when I bought my XR150 2 weeks ago.

I am loyal to that damn blue oval seeing as my first car in high school was my grandmas 67 stang at the start of junior year of HS.

But I am older and wiser so next build will be a SMALLBLOCKCHEVY. I think I’ve been missing out.

my fav muscle car will always be 67 GTO. The perfect Pontiac imho. Pure sex!

Originally would have been laquer. Now I figure it is some kind of urethane. It came out of a museum in California. The car is very solid the finish bodywork in my opinion is not the greatest. But it is a great starting point. Now to get my new barn built. And started on my 57 Chieftain and my 75 Corvette. Yea, I have a problem. Nice looking Stang by the way. Paint is beautiful!

Back to your buggy. Those pictures in post # 6, are they current, or are they from when it was brand new? If they are current, Wow, nice job keeping up on it.
As stated by Hellion in post # 5, we see so many of the modern Chinese buggies that are just WHIPPED. Left out in the weather and the wiring looks like a family of big rats lived there for years. Glad to see one properly cared for. FWIW, I am a Ford guy also, but Denny's Pontiac makes me drool. Even with the Stang, you still need a 2nd kart. You can't play chase with a kart and a full sized car at the same time.

it’s dirty and a lil muddy from the last adventure before it became a permanent fixture at the machine shop for over a year. But it has held up better than Chinese drywall during Katrina.

Funny you should mention that. I worked in the drywall business for 45 years. I heard all about the horror stories of the Chinese stuff ( shyt ) but had always thought it was pretty much a Florida problem. I'm in Southern California, so it never made it this far west.

I wasn't trying to up sell California. Just never knew that the Chinese stuff made it as far west as Louisiana. Home is where we're all comfortable. BTW, what are
Aints?
