Naming a project is fun. I present to you Piglet.

20250519_175710.jpg

A little doodlebug I've had neglected in the corner. Has a 79cc predator in it with a CC.

I guess if your 8 year old and never had fun this might work.
It doesnt want to take off with me on it. Gotta walk it a bit for it to get going.

I thought the CC was toast so I got a new one. Nope, just not enough power.

So on the healing bench and a little cleaning.

I've got ideas!
Not smart ones, but ideas none the less.

Ive got this!

20250516_190437.jpg

My engine from the dingo. The original B&S Vanguard 9Hp. I've done head work, port polished and decked. Has a nice round slide mikuni.

20250519_182509.jpg

Not sure if its gonna work.

Like a fat man in a little coat...

Where's the TC gonna go?

There's just no way with out major modifications. No room for the JS plate.

Little wide too.

Those fenders, the rear especially, are way too high up (never liked them) and there's lots of older factory minibikes with 1/3 of the engine hanging over the right side; it's just the nature of the beast and part of the charm, asymmetrical as it may be.

Looks like removing the valve cover breather might net you some height on the vertical plane. How tall is the jackshaft plate?

Since we're back on the air I'll give an update.

The big block 300 after some thinking is just too much. I don't feel like cutting this frame up to handle that engine.

Boo... I know....

So instead, I thought if I get one of these....

20250523_164836.jpg

I might stick it on the 49cc and see what it will do. If it's better, than I might hop up the little engine that could.

20250523_195832.jpg

The PTO was wrong and there was no easy way to make a ⅝ shaft drive a ¾ CVT.

So I drove to the big city one day and this jumped in the back of my truck. No idea how it got there. I swear.

There’s some people that make their decisions in stone and never waver ”we’re going to make this engine fit no matter what it takes!” so I was fully preparing for your Big Block Doodle to come to fruition.

Glad there was a tinge of sanity (or practicality) because I have a soft spot for old “survivor” frames and they should be allowed to continue surviving, but now I want to see what the 79cc will do (insanity returns!). Can you sleeve the “wrong PTO”?

Oh well, on to the boring old 212cc…

Hellion, I so wanted the big block doodle. But I also have a spot for survivors. Kinda why I kept the cage of my dingo even though Ill never put it on.

I can work the 79cc head. Port polished and decked. A bigger carb and open exhaust. Should wake it up nicely. The Cars and Camera guys just did one coincidentally. There are no parts for them so that's all your gonna get. The valve springs are easily compressed with your pinky finger. Mighty weak.

My issue was the CVT has a permanent keyway. With a reducer sleeve the key made about a c hair of engagement on the pto. It holds under hand spinning but any real power would have made a mess to take back apart.

Getting the 212 in the frame was a little fandangleing but it fits. The gas tank won't go under the frame so it gonna have to get a different one.

Motor had to be raised up a bit to clear and shifted to one side to make the chain alignment work.

Old chain guard tabs had to be removed and the CVT back plate had to get notched to clear the frame.

Once I got it to squeeze in there, I took it back out hastily and opened the case to remove the plastic governor.

20250525_173636.jpg

Got the case buttoned up, shoved back in the frame, and then realized my throttle cable now didn't fit.

Dang it. Put a longer bolt with a shoulder to plug the hole and double as a pivot for the stock linkage to go back.

The stock exhaust sits real close to your butt cheek. Gonna play that out and see how bad it chaps my a$$.

I have this gas tank from the 79cc. I think i can make it work.

20250531_200601.jpg
The cap leaks so I might get one of those bicycle tanks.

Screenshot_20250814_183539_Google.jpg

But they are about 12" long and I don't have the room.

20250601_195954.jpg

Ive got room to move the seat back but then I have to move the support bars.

Still looks like a fat guy in a little coat.

Can you put the 79cc tank back on the engine? I find the *remote tank on the top tube* distasteful because the aesthetics are severely lacking, but it's a popular craigslist Bubba-mod. I mean it needs to be a round or oblongish tank at the absolute minimum.

then realized my throttle cable now didn't fit.

...can you elaborate on this no-fit issue? 🤔

Yes Hellion I'm not fond of the tank either.
Putting that little tank on the 212 in place of the nonfitting original doesn't sit right either. The fill cap is just under the frame rail. Hard to open and fill.
Im gonna get that tear drop and move the seat back.

I set the throttle like I did cause I'm using the stock carb and the linkage didn't work for a direct to carb connection. No biggie. It works.
My cable comes in from the rear.

This works just fine.

In fact, it works so well, Piglet has dumped me on my *** a few times. Gotta sit real far foward on the seat to keep the front tire on the ground.

The wife came home and I asked if she wanted to take it for a spin with the new engine.
I said sit foward and be easy on the throttle.
Lol.
Nope.
12 o clocked and off the back she went. LOL.

I thought that was the end. But she got up and actually went for round 2.
What a trooper.

Gonna have to do some thing about that...
