I know we are struggling with spam
, but as far as I know there haven't been any viruses being spread by visiting the forum. Please let me know if you do have any evidence of viruses. I am not too sure what we could do, but at least I will know

Spam IS NOT the same as VIRUS. Please correct that! Youll drive people away who otherwise, wouldnt care about a little spam.
It sucks man but youre not the only one that has to deal with it.
Why not just take a break and ignore it instead of announcing your departure? Nobody can fix it right now and were all frustrated as hell about it.

You just gotta scroll past all the sh@t. Only takes a few seconds longer. I worry about new folks clicking on hoping for go kart help and thinking, what the heck is all this crap, and then leaving. Has to have happened several times already.
I hear you. I am also pretty sure I have been banning the odd genuine member who has joined, but I am taking no chances. When i see some weird name or suspicious activity.....they are gone.

Maybe Pearl111 means the overall spammers, scammers and general non-functionality of the forum software?
The continual “Oops you can’t do that” messages when you try to post a reply, the non-ability to search the forum that results in another “Oops!” and the inability to click on someone’s profile page to name a few.
Are there more issues? Be interesting to list them.

What are the site issues everyone is having? What works and what doesn't?
• I cannot click on anyone's profile to see their posting content for example
• I cannot search the forum for topics
• I have heard private messaging does not work for some members.
A work-around for searching the forum that is pretty much foolproof is the following method. In your browser's text entry window {the one at the top usually}, type the part in bold:
site:diygokarts.com (no spaces)
Tap the spacebar and type in your search terms. So the string should look like this:
site:diygokarts.com carter brothers
Hit enter and it will find every mention of "carter brothers" on diygokarts.com

I mean, it was a pain to keep reporting spam, especially since there is a 60 second timer between being able to report each piece of spam.

Yup. It's been great. We first put all new members first posts into the approval queue, but we have now added some new words to the spam filters in the background.

When Robert comes back, I wonder if he would be willing to do like a Patreon or some sort of paid membership on here? Might help with the running costs of the forum. Hopefully once he's back, we can have a proper yearly Build competition again.

Can confirm. He, I and BBQ Joe were an informal team, I being the newcomer. I wouldn’t say Chancer hates us, but I think he just got his fill of DIYGK and drove on. Burned-out, you might say. But egad if you aren’t right about winning the build off and leaving the forum.
I don’t even remember a trophy. It was a physical trophy?
Of course they say women have the best memory which is why they bring up every thing you have ever done wrong in an argument, even the things they forgave you for… so if you have a good memory you might just be a female.
