So Bob went to his doctor for his quarterly check-up...
The doctor asked him how he was feeling, and Bob said ,'Things are great and I've never felt better.'
I now have a 20 year-old bride who is pregnant with my child.
"So what do you think about that Doc?"
The doctor considered his question for a minute and
then began to tell a story.
"I have an older friend , much like you, who is an avid hunter
and never misses a season."
One day he was setting off to go hunting.
In a bit of a hurry , he accidentally picked up his walking cane instead of his gun."
"As he neared a lake , he came across a very large male beaver sitting at the water's edge.
He realized he'd left his gun at home and so he couldn't shoot the magnificent creature.
Out of habit he raised his cane , aimed it at the animal as if it were his favorite hunting rifle and went 'bang, bang'."
"Miraculously , two shots rang out and the beaver fell over dead.
"Now, what do you think of that?" asked the doctor.
Bob said ,
"Logic would strongly suggest that somebody else pumped a couple of rounds into that beaver."
The doctor replied , "My point exactly."
I love stories about logic.
One evening Bob was talking to a customer named Earl.
Earl was talking about how he felt he wasn't going to get any further in life without some education.
As Bob was pouring Earl yet another shot of Southern comfort, Earl exclaimed he was gonna go back to college and take a few courses.
He inquired of Bob, who was a highly educated man, stuck in a bartender job, what he thought might be some good choices for some courses.
Bob thought a minute, then suggested to Earl that math is always a helpful skill to have under one's belt, as well some history.
Earl finished his drink, and decided to go visit a professor at the college the very next morning.
After spending some time with one of the professors the next day, the professor agreed that Bob's suggestions were spot on.
The professor also suggested a course in logic.
Earl admitted that he knew what history was, and also that he knew what math was, but rather stumped, he asked the professor, what is logic?
The professor explained:
"Let me give you an example. Do you own a weed-whacker?"
"I sure do," answered the Earl.
"Then I can assume, using logic, that you have a yard," replied the professor.
"That's real good," Earl responded in awe.
The professor continued, "Logic will also tell me that since you have a yard, you also have a house."
Impressed, Earl shouted, "AMAZING!"
"And since you own a house, logic dictates that you have a wife."
Earl blurted "This is incredible!"
"Finally, since you have a wife, logically I can assume that you are heterosexual," said the professor.
"You're absolutely right! Why, that's the most fascinating thing I ever heard of! I can't wait to take this here logic class."
Excited about the classes, Earl hurried to the bar to tell Bob about his up and coming scholastic schedule.
He told Bob he signed up for math and also history, and was going to take a suggested course in logic.
Bob was a bit dumbfounded that someone like Earl even knew there was such a thing as logic, so Bob asked Earl. "Earl, what exactly is logic?"
Earl proudly said to Bob, "I will show you logic."
Earl then asked Bob, "Bob, do you own a weed whacker?"
Bob replied, "No"
Earl exclaimed, "Well... then you're gay!"
