Like the title says, I just bought a new hemi predator. I'm going to modify the governer per outcrydrummers tutorial, strap it in my go kart and whip it like a rented mule.
Any bets on the outcome?

I guess I missed the tutorial, but my best guess is no matter what you do, you're gonna break something!

We put the Predator in my daughters kart 2 Christmases ago. She drove it around for a day.
Then Family came over and we spent a couple hours 4 of us hammering it around a Short circle track in the yard.
Two years later that thing still runs great. Governed at factory 3600. stock intake stock exhaust. 6:1 on 15" turf tires.

Valve float is your limit now, yes?

Better valve springs and bust the rod.

I have a 301 on the way. I plan on similar testing. But I'm gonna do a compression test/l eakdown test. Who knows the 301 might spit out a chunk of rod into my cranium at 5000 RPM. Either way humanity is a winner.

OCDs Vids show The Gov adjust gets you 4800 Rpm.
And another video shows stock valve float at 5250.

I did the mod without a tach. I swapped the spring into the other hole, and wound the throttle stop spring all the way open. It's pretty much been ran wide open for three straight hours now. The gov does work, it's just way north of where it used to be. The more we run it, the better it seems to run.

Here's a link to the break in stuff that gave me the big idea to break it in at wot.

After about 3 more hours of wailing on it we managed to break the brake line. I have bruises on my side and legs from riding it so much. I think this motor would outlast me set up this way.

Do you think that when engines are tested on dynos maybe there's a stress induced that may not be induced in real life applications? Resonant frequencies, harmonics.

For the sake of the children. I wish engine builders would be more forthcoming. At least sharing knowing when it comes to catastrophic failure.
