We've got lots of ideas! Take some time and cruise the heck out of this forum. Surely there's enough here to inspire you, and help you get a better idea of what you're up against.

Do you have any fabrication skills? Got a welder?

Welcome to the forum!

:smiley_omg: IIRC ,gear monkey is 14 so fab skills are gonna be limited, not thatI'm putting him down. I just dont want him to get set up for failure or get in WAY over his head. Gear monkey, for your first kart build,if you HAVE to have suspensio, stick with just a swingarm kart. Once your fab skills are better, convert the front to a double A-arm set up. Then, go back and convert rear to an IRS set up. In those stages, you will build up your skills for the next stage. If you expect too much, you just might feel overwhelmed and fail/quit.... We can guide you as you go, lets just keep it simple to start, but building with the knowledge that it will all be converted. Design it so removing the swingarm allows you to bolt up an IRS set up. Same with the front. :idea2:
An IRS set up is not cheap, and not exactly EASY to build/set up. Thats why you dont see many/any karts with IRS. ...

Unfortunately no. Plans for simple karts can be found for free but, once you start talking about 4 point IRS, you're paying for them...

I hope you tend to your school work more than "this" kart. We will gladly help you along the way, but after you do some homework too... There are TONS of free,simple kart plans ,here and all over the net. Try Google. .... Ask simple questions..... "free go kart plans" ...... If you can't even put enough effort forth to do at least a little research, I dont think you will ever complete a buggy build on your own.
You do not HAVE to have plans. Ive built NUMEROUS karts but NEVER had any plans. Its all in YOUR head. Only YOU know what you want. Spend a few hours (i mean like HHOOOUUURRRRSSSSS) looking at pics and posts here. Then start putting YOUR ideas on paper. THATS when you ask, "ok guys,so do you think this will work?" or "does my rear set up look feasible?" Thats where WE can step in and give you pointers or advice. If you lived close, my 12y/o son and I could show you what i mean. We build from the prints in my head. He tells me what HE wants, and we figure out how to get it or do it.
Good luck GM, I hope im not discouraging you. I just dont want to see you fail.
We must crawl before we walk, and walk before we run..... In kart lingo...... We must build simple kart before a rear susp. kart, and a rear susp.kart before we build a full susp kart.... As a fireman, I didn't just grab a hose the first day and start knockin down fires. As a machinist, I started with SIMPLE OD work on a manual machine. Now i do HIGHLY COMPLEX and HIGH TOLERANCE work (+-.0005 and +-.001) on a CNC. What im tryin to say is you got to start somewher. .... make it somewhere that will HELP YOU in the future.....

I have looked up kart plans and haven't got any where but here. I had been looking at this forum for a couple of months before I made my own profile.
I know what Im up against.
Although, I have rethought my original plans my knew idea would be a cheap build rear suspension any ideas on that please:idea2:

I know what a Tracker is- I had one. Your question made no sense.

Sid- In the North American market, it was a sister to the Sidekick, not the Samurai.
I'd love a Samurai.

Ah yes, sorry my fault.. it was called "vitara" around here;
the samurai was the direct successor of the SJ, right?

Yeah, I believe so. Predecessors to the Vitara and Sidekick. Cool little units, featuring a divorced transfer case and a couple other neat little features that mean absolutely nothing to anybody but a tinkerer with an offroad love such as myself. In the US and Canada, the Samurai got a bad reputation (undeserved) for a "supposed" tendency to roll over. I drove one for awhile- it's like anything else- you have to drive according to the capabilities of what you're driving. No more, no less.
