10T to 20T
10T to 70T
14 : 1 overall reduction.
I assume 18” tires.
4.71 feet per axle revolution.
1800 rpm clutch engagement?
With 14 :1 gear reduction and 18” tires…
@1800 RPM velocity is about 7 mph.
Under 7mph, your clutch will be slipping and burning.
With your current gearing (10T to 14T, 14T to 70T) and 7:1 reduction….
1800 rpm would be about 14mph, meaning traveling under 14mph results in slipping and burning.
Accelerating from a stop = burned clutch
Slow travel = burned clutch
Stop and go = burned clutch
Hills = burned clutch
Riding the brake = burned clutch
Changing that critical speed from 14mph to 7mph will improve clutch life, improve torque, improve acceleration (up to a a certain speed),
but will cost you top speed.
Lower engagement rpm clutch (stall speed) will help.
Smaller diameter tires will help
CVT or TAV will help.
All gas no brakes will help.
Once you get moving, just keep going!
14:1 total gear reduction with 18” tires means top end speed will be limited to like 20 mph at 5200 rpm. This is why anything with tires larger than 16” really needs the variable speediness of the CVT.
