I’m unsure of what’s causing my go kart to smoke…. I have a 224cc engine with a centrifugal clutch with 10 teeth, a drive sprocket with 40teeth, 12” tires, my weight is 165, my go carts weight is approximately 100lbs I put this thing together and it struggles to even get going and soon there after like with in seconds the clutch is sparking and smoking and getting extremely hot

Um you need to get a 30 series, a Genuine Comet belt, and rear sprocket with 60t. Or at least absolutely no less than 54t and pair it to a 9t sprocket.

Hilliard clutches just aren't that strong to begin with, they are best suited to track racing where the spend 98% of their exsistance locked... you have too much engine, too much gear, too much tire, and not enough clutch.

Final drive is the :1(to one ratio) dividend of the rear by the front...

40÷10 = 4.0:1 👎
50÷10 = 5.0:1 👎
54÷10 = 5.4:1👎
56÷10 = 5.6:1🫳 the kart is light, you are light, but it will likely struggle with hills and eat belts

60÷10=6.0:1 👍
54÷9=6.0:1 👍
56÷9=6.22:1 👍👍

Odom, the one you put in your post will work fine. Like Rat said, they're all the same. I have 4, from 3 different manufacturers and I can't tell the difference. When the belt that comes with it wears out, ( won't be long ) do like Denny suggest and buy a Comet brand belt. It cost around $25 and the cheapies are only $10. It very well could last as long as you own the kart. Worth the price many times over.
