Default Reverse Cable Adjustment

I recently purchased a Kandi 150 kart that had a broken reverse cable. I purchased a new one but canít seem to adjust it so that it will put the cart in reverse as well as drive. The best I can get is drive/neutral no matter how I adjust it. Any advice for something else that may be incorrect? Thanks for the help, this group seems to have some very knowledgeable folks.
