Fixed. Please verify. i'm going to have to do something as this allows ENORMOUS files, and that costs money, blah blah blah, but I can kick that can down the road a little further.

not yet
Code:
 gif	8.58 MB 2000	2000
 jpeg	878.9 KB	2000	2000
 jpg	8.58 MB 10000	10000
 pdf	10.06 MB	-	-
 png	244.1 KB	2000	2000
 zip	97.7 KB -	-
I think we can deal with less pixels for jpg (5000x5000 should suffice)
but everything should be the same; no matter if jpg, jpeg, or png
heck even gifs IYAM
7340032 bytes (7MB) each should do

10MB pdfs are great,
I'd like 10MB zips too (just for odd manuals and such)

and while pdfs and zips do cost space and thus money

all image formats get scaled down by the forumsoft,
so those shouldn't be much of an issue.

(see attached file and compare it to the uploaded original file size and dimensions )

'sid

PS pixel stay the same now.. that's fine but I think scaling them down to IDK fullhd resolution (1920x1080 pix) would free another MB of space for this image and still provide more than enough resolution for us. especially on portrait mode images... just saying

Ran into a max number of attachments and odd merge behavior... may be normal policies or rules.

I use Android and Tapatalk most of the time (like 99% of the time).

Seems the Tapatalk app has an issue when I try uploading more than 3 photos at a time and it just crashes, anything unsaved just disappears.

I figure that is either an issue with low memory or free space on my phone as images are being uploaded, or a Tapatalk bug related to image re-sizing (unsure?)

I mention this because Friday, I made a post with lots of pictures, and because of the crashing behavior with Tapatalk/Android, I had to edit the post several times adding a couple of pictures, and save it, then edit and add more text and pictures and save it, then repeat this again and again . Nothing new with that.

I started a post on my build off thread around lunch, and guess it had about 6 photos. Then later in the afternoon, I tried to start another post, but my new post was merged with my previous post from earlier in the day. So I just went with it and kept adding pictures until I got a message that there is a max of 15 pictures ( including any or faces).

Ok, so eventually I hit a policy issue where the site or Tapatalk was not allowing my attempt to start a new post... it kept trying to merge my attempted new post into the maxed out post from earlier in the day, and kept giving me the max attachment message.

I decided to just let it go and called it a day, got some sleep and was able to start a new post with the additional pictures the next morning.

BTW, Thanks for all the work on the site. I'm not complaining, and glad that Tapatalk is supported. Even though it's not working as smoothly as it should for me, I like the convenience of an app to browse multiple forums and make it easy to upload my photos directly from phone storage.

tapatalk gets worse and worse with every single day IMHO
I removed it from my phone years ago (the moment they did no longer allow to upload images to DIYGK but instead used their own image hosting system (for a fee of course))

So having troubles with tapatalk is nothing we can help you with much I'm afraid.

had to delete one smiley to show the message I was asking about... is this from the site ?

Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk

this is a subsequent new post to try adding more pictures....

Here's a couple more.

This allows more than 15 pictures in a post as long as you do not edit the post directly.

.. and my 3rd new post being merged.

Did posts get changed on here where if you post something say the day before and no one posts between and you make a new post on it, it auto merges as an edit now? Because in my thread the ST2-NG think tank one, if I try to make a new post, it just edits my previous post.

yes 24hrs..
just as it was before..
just that before it wasn't working as intended ... ignoring posts with attachements entirely

that's now fixed
(well broken in that it's unable to shopw the split-text for some reason)

Wow, it was broken for a good while then. I'll keep that in mind.

ever since actually..
it wasn't exactly broken, it was just unable to deal with attachments.

it's replacement tool now can handle those and thus is the more appreciated version of a duplicate post prevention tool.
THAT however is in fact broken
(since -for unknown reasons*- it is unable to show the text it is supposed to insert between two merged posts)
[*works in a test environment flawlessly *shrugs*]

As soon as Robert's got the time we'll fix that
