Welcome to the forum. It will be interesting to see if you can get the alternator going as a functioning and long lasting motor :thumbsup: Alternators generally don't like to be run for long periods....

You say you have a keyed axle. You will need keys and setscrews. They usually hold things pretty well. You would not need collars for everything you listed

Many people have tried this, and generally it is a fail. The engine either moves because the washers eventually compress, or there is so much flex that the chain keeps on popping off.
