valve float at around 6k (compared to 5-5.5k on a gx200)

an old gx390 has a peak torque of 27Nm @2500 rpms
so MORE than a predator...

I even think I see a skid mark that matches the corner of the bracket.

IIRC the 250 series engines had a massive ground wire directly from the battery to one of the engine mounting bolts;
I can't recall if it was bare and braided or twisted and black or sometimes green...

and while you put the screw back you haven't tightened it enough or too...
