I want to reinforce my bearing/axle hanger so that it doesn't bend from the tension of the brake band and rod etc. Could I mount the bearing housing on the outside of the hanger like where I'm pointing to so I can bolt this plate on the back? I wanted to just put a plate on the front, but my brake hub can't get close enough to the hanger that way.

Sure you can do that.

What does the whole rear end look like? That does appear to have a lot of exposed or unsupported rear axle. I’ve seen more than my fair share of bent axles on this site...

Everything on the kart except the frame only has about 2 hours of riding on it lol it's all brand new. Without taking everything off it would be hard for me to tell if it got bent. The only thing I know for sure that got bent was just the bearing hanger. The bolt I was using for the brake band was too long I didnt have the band close enough to the frame etc. Other than some smooth riding on grass all the time we drove it was spent on pavement.
