Hello All.
Just started yesterday of my own build of Spidercart's Granddaddy Go kart.
Some of my welds do not look deep or right to me, so I've Included a pic of my welder's settings nobs for you guys to help me out a bit.

My metal guage is .100 which I believe is roughly a bit too thick but that is the smallest my metal supplier can get for me as they are a fire truck body repair place.

Good job on getting started. If the wall thickness is .100 thousandths thick your ok. But if it is 100 gauge it is as thin as aluminum foil and will fold like such. Ha. Ha.
Before you get too far. Take 2 pieces of scrap about 3” long and weld one end to the other about 1” from the end. All 4 sides. Now put the ends in a vice and try to squeeze them together. If you don’t have a vice big enough you can use a BFH to try it beat the ends together. If the weld tears or breaks it is no good. If the material tears or folds you are good to go!

I hope this helps you!

Lol I have done that already, had the cops called because of it. Neighbor was scared that I was beating someone to death with the 5 foot long pole I made. the Cops laughed when I told them that I was just testing my welds on a rock, metal just bent but the welds held just fine. the Metal is .100 thousandths thick.

Yea, the same thing happened to me 40 plus years ago when I was teaching me to weld. That is what the old timers told me to do. They just probably figured I wouldn’t do it at 2:30 Sunday morning. Had a few neighbors mad at me for a week or so. Ooops

Noone died right  so....did weld break? :p

So 1mm is about .039, 3mm is about .118. So welder is about 100/110 amp guessing.

I would crank it up to say G and 5, adjust wire speed so it sounds like 🥓 frying.

The weld didn't break, yes it is a 11o volt welder.

I'd turn it up however any higher on the voltage/speed it pops the fuse on my breaker.

Figure out what else is on the breaker ie fridge lights etc.
If you need you can unplug or turn of stuff for 15 min of welding, I had to do that for several yeats.

Nothing I can do as it's an rental, plus the electrical panel is So Overloaded From bad wiring jobs (D.I.Y. Electrical person/s) from before I moved in.
And no room on the panel to install another breaker/run just for one thing
