I noticed that my engine started leaking oil from somewhere and finally found out that it wasn't the dipstick cap actually but the drain plug :)oops: duhhh). Theres no telling how much I've lost so I think the best bet is just do an oil change. Its like 50 years old anyways and the oil looks absolutely nasty.

The model is a WR-EY18W, probably around 3 or 4 hp. The manual does not have any info on this subject. Does anyone have suggestions on how much oil should go in and what type I should use? I heard 5W-30 somewhere....

I would be very surprised if the manual contains no information about the correct grade of engine oil.

That said, the usual is SAE 30 under most operating conditions. Since we are in The Great White North (LOL), I tend to use multigrade, generally 10W30 and even 5W30 when it's really cold.

A picture of your engine would help for volume info. Is the fill plug down low on the side? If so, the usual way is to slowly fill until the oil comes to about the bottom of the dipstick threads in the filler hole.
