Winter project: Evinrude 4cyl outboard

Another boat motor project. This one is a mid-60's Evinrude outboard. 4-cylinder, 2-stroke, electric shift.

Pulled the starter off, disassembled, cleaned, reassembled, and reinstalled. Wiring harness is falling apart, so I pulled that off and plan to rebuild it.

Up next will be the carburetor, ignition, and cooling system, then probably lower unit and electronic shift. After that, we'll see if it'll run.

Pulled all the tape off the harness. Looks rough.

Got a new wiring harness put together last night. Pulled the pinion gear off the starter, cleaned, and lubed. Also pulled the flywheel, coil, intake, carb, fuel pump, and a few other parts off. Fortunately, this engine looks alot worse on the outside than it does on the inside. The intake is amazingly clean. I know for a fact that this engine was run in the Chesapeake (salt water), which explains the crapped out wiring. Luckily, the PO took good care of this motor.
