No it will not. The roller in a #41 and #420 are the same .306 and the roller in a #40 chain is .312 BUT the roller in a #428 is .330 and that is to large to get all the way down in the valley of the sprocket. #428 chain takes a special sprockets which needs a special hob for the teeth. #41, #420 and #40 can use the same hob.
