I just recently bought a small go kart from craigslist and it needs a bit of work. the rear axle it pretty much no good. I have a honda gx110 which I know is small so I plan on upgrading that later on. I was wondering what axle would be best to buy keeping in mind the upgrade. I am new to all this and I am trying to learn what is good. I plan on buying a torque converter and I dont know what sprockets or tires I would buy so tips on that would be very appreciated too. the spacing for the mounting points for the axle on the frame would be about 15 inches apart.

Hello and welcome..

Let's see some pics of your setup...

Only picture that popped up with the link provided.

A 1" axle will be sufficient since it's just a yard kart. A 30 series CVT will do you well, get genuine Comet 30 series belts and it'll last you a long time. A Predator 212 will be a better option over that Honda GX110. Gearing, will depend on the tire size you go with. 15" diameter tires a 10 tooth on the CVT and a minimum of a 60 tooth on the axle will give you a 6:1 ratio. If you go with 18" tires, I'd jump up to a 65 tooth. Granted the 60 tooth will work, but you will lose off of a stop take off. So just compensating a bit.

Sprocket (no hub needed): https://www.gopowersports.com/live-axle-sprocket-60t/

This should get you started.
