Hi, thinking about making an electric go-kart, but I'm not sure what rating for the motor is good. (I would like it to goo fairy fast.)

It depends on how fast you want to go?
...&/or how much you want to spend ;)

A 48V 1,000W (~1.2HP) motor can easily propel a light kart (~$150.00)
...or a 48V 4,000W (~5HP) can propel heavier karts pretty well (~$1,000.00)

Thank you! I am looking for probably 1-2k 36 volts, as I don't want to carry around too many batteries.

If you don't have anything yet, you can buy old razor mx550 kids bikes of FB Marketplace and put them into small carts. That way you buy a working system, and don't have to cobble parts

what do you mean by What RPMS are good?
