I have a torq-a-verter 30 series and I bought a brand new belt for it. I put it on and drove it for a little bit. All the sudden it really started smoking and shredding to pieces. My old belt didn't do this and lasted me for a long time. What could be causing this? Why would my belt trim down and shred? What are the proper procedures for prepping a belt for a torque converter? Does my torque converter need to be maintained. The belt started ripping and smoking at high speeds. My go kart is live axle and has a hard time turning on asphault. HELP ME OUT PLEASE!

All live-axle carts are hard to turn on asphalt, turning with the gas on helps a bit. As for the belt, did you get the correct one - is it the proper length? Is it lined up, and yes, you need to maintian the pulleys. Gokartsupply has info on all of this on their web site - take a look.
