The "real" max RPM

Most of the engines we use are limited at 3600, to my knowledge. For sure Briggs, probably those Tecumseh, and I suspect the knock-off asian ones. (Please correct me!)

My question for the night is "What is the "real" max (safe) RPM" for these engines? I've always removed governors, and never blown an engine (knock on wood) but I'm curious what RPM I'm really running at.

Since there's no tach, it's not exactly clear.

So, I'm curious, if you've removed a governor: In your experience, what do you think is the real safe limit for rpms?

im not sure what rpm thses engines tun at but i know a good way to find out the other day when i was looking at a princess auto flyer it had a battery powered tachometer which uses radar to tell how fast something is turning i cant remember how much it costs but im positive that it was pretty cheap
