This one I brought home for my boy. It was the frame with the steering and a hex axle. I cut the axle off and got a 39" keyed axle from bmikarts. I just sat back and gave him instruction and hints along the way. He mounted the disc and sprocket. Then hung the axle. I had to cut the caliper bracket off and move it. It's got an Airheart mechanical caliper with a 7"disc. I have a 7hp Tecumseh thats going on it. Tires are 16" kendas off of a mini quad for the rear and lawn mower tires with split rims up front. I have to order a jack shaft setup and install it to finish this one.

Yeah he likes it a lot. Once he gets the payoff of driving it then he will get to feel that sense of accomplishment and really be stoked :)

This is great, it's what I love to see. For the "seniors" amongst us, it's not that big a task to build/fix these machines but, when we pass on the knowledge we have to the younger generations, it makes it that much better.

Good on you man

From what I can tell it is a Manco. It looks very similar to the other ones that I have seen. Whoever had it before I did chopped the roll bar off and left the bars that run up the side of the cart (the black tubing with padding in the pictures). Since this is for my son I think that I will probably fab a horseshoe style roll bar that stretches from the rear of the frame to just above the seat. That way if he does happen to roll it over or tip it then he wont break his neck!

Updated pics

We had to add a jack shaft setup to the kart in order for it to work out (axle sprocket is on the right, engine shaft on the left). Check & double check our alignment then weld, weld, weld... We test drove it this last weekend. Its pretty quick. We have a 12T Hilliard clutch run to a 20T sprocket on the jackshaft then a 10T on the other end of the jackshaft to a 45T on the axle..?...maybe.... I'm not certain of the tooth count on the axle sprocket. We are using a 7hp Tecumseh Snow King motor from a snowblower.
