so "is it finally happening?" yeah, heII yeah it happened, with the old house under contract and most of our boxes unpacked in New River it's time for a dedicated thread about life on acreage in the Arizona desert
life has kind of calmed down since the move and I've been able to work on the new house here and there trying to focus on essentials but for sure some squirrel moment projects have popped up
so for essentials number one, the first week we had an amazing rain storm and amazing water coming in the office
, I had to relieve a pocket of water behind paint on the drywall and I was not very pleased with that, found out we were missing several shingles on the roof and had a couple patches of exposed felt paper, a $35 trip to Home Depot between shingles and a tube of patching tar and the roof is water tight again
I built a dog house thing, the kind that if we see it on a nabe's property we instantly call it a rape shack, it's made from the old floating kicker/barge we made for wakeboard comps, it keeps the wind off the dog and everybody happy happy happy
we have several leaky hose bibs, one that just leaks, the others leak when open and I bought a new one to replace the active leaker- what a discovery, there is a shut off valve between the well pump and the pressure tank, but no valve between the tank and the house, so tomorrow I will fill our 55 gallon drums (for future rain collection) with the pressurized water so I can install a secondary water shut off at the house, I connected the short length of hose to see exactly how much it was leaking into the hole the pipe emerges from
I plan to install gutters to catch rain water just as much keep runoff from dumping on our patios and we'll fill our barrels to water plants, I also want to replace the gate valve at the well with a ball valve
so much to do, so little time, I'll try to keep this thread up to date but no promises
