Why is it called an allen wrench you may ask. Well, in keeping with our policy of dispensing as much useless info as possible, the education department here at the mountain top has the answer.

While often used in generic terms for "hex key", the "Allen" name is a registered trademark (circa 1910) of the Allen Manufacturing Company (now Apex Tool Group) of Hartford, Connecticut; regardless, "Allen key" and "Allen wrench" are often seen as generic trademarks.

Yer Welcome

It has what looks like a new motor. I replaced the front wheels and the clutch. I am trying to do a full restore but I dont know exactly what brand or model this is. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you!

The kart looks heavily altered from its original form but it looks domestic (late 1990s, early 2000s) and not some Chinesium crap. The supplementary side bars and the anti-whiplash head support for just the driver look like recent add-ons. Of course the no suspension puts it in "classic go kart" territory.

I want to say it's one of several possibilities:
Carter Brothers
Ken-Bar Mfg
Brister's (Thunderkarts)

Help me out here folks with the (mostly-defunct) American brands (it's not a Manco).

Referring to the photos in post number 3, the previous owner was either an idiot by placing the wheel on first and then the hub trapping the wheel on the axle especially if the hub was rusted on (been there done that), or he was a low IQ genius that said "I ain't letting that wheel fly off agin'" and purposely put it on incorrectly! Either way he was still an absolute tard because it's idiotic and he never thought of having to take it off (to change a tire) or never thought of the next guy.

So the proper assembly order is hub on axle, wheel, wheel nuts, axle nut (and maybe a washer). The axle, hub and wheel all look legit-factory except for the double nut. Most karts have just one nut that holds each wheel on. The factory axle nut was usually an all steel lock nut, the kind that is sort of pinched on the end. Here's one:

That is not right the way it is set up.

Denny is as helpful as the Riddler. I mean he's right but he left you no clue. You might want to put him on ignore! 😂

Be careful with your tire pressures. The (Turf Saver) front tires in the front are supposed to have a square-ish profile and should not be rounded like that. It looks like they have about 2 or 3 times over the allowable tire pressure.... :worried2:

Full restore? That means a return to original condition (and that's nuts!). I don't think the original had skulls or those nerf bars on the sides, nor any diamond plate. Just tidy it up, paint over the bare metal make it look halfway decent and DRIVE.

That was the plan. Not a full restore. But to make it look good. Finally got the RR hub off. I have a replacement hub but need a new tire and tube

im watching the tire wear and it definitely looks like i need to drop the pressure down a bit to make more of an even wear. Thank yall for all of the info. i plan on using the stock wheels, (sanding them down and repainting them). Looks like they are a two piece wheel. Any ideas on where I can find a decent (inexpensive tire and tube)?

Tires and tubes can be purchased from Amazon as well as any of the numerous go kart supply shops. Shouldn't take more than about 30 seconds to find what you need.
