Hi there...So I'm very new to go karts and small engines. I have a right hand drive Murray Go Kart with a Tecumseh Power Sport 6.0hp engine. It ran fine last season but when I fired it up today it struggled to get going and when it was going it would stall out if I took my foot off the gas for any amount of time. I'm pretty sure the carb needs a cleaning but I also noticed that a part of the carb come out of its port. Please see the pics. Could that have anything to do with the stalling or is that an unrelated issue? Thanks

Aside from that cracked hose on top of the carb, there doesn't appear to be anything wrong in the picture. You mentioned last season. Did you leave gas in the tank over the winter by chance? If so, I'd recommend draining the fuel system (including the carb bowl) and refilling with fresh gas. And yes, the carb could likely use a cleaning as carb maintenance is often neglected.

So I found a better pic of the port and the piece that pops out. In the link below you can see that the piece attached to the breather hose is completely out of the port but still attached to the hose. It may be nothing but I’m just curious. And thank you(Grant? Love the YouTube channel) for the step by step carb cleaning link..

That shouldn’t affect how the engine runs. The breather is before the throttle plate. So, it won’t create a vacuum leak if is letting in outside air. It will let some dirty air in that hasn’t been filtered, but that’s about it.

You need to replace that hose. On the other end, it attaches to the valve cover. Then replace the carb. You can get that on ebay or Amazon for $15. Its just a few bolts and screws. You can get a 2 pack or air filters for less than $10. Problem solved.

This broken hose will suck unfiltered air directly into the carb. It normally sucks air from the valve cover. It's the PCV valve to vent the crankcase gases. I bought one for less than $5.
