Predator 212 exhaust mod question

What is the best way to fix this problem? I want to repower a leaf blower just like this (same size unit):

But this person had to smash the exhaust because the engine has to sit flush with the front.

If you can weld - then you could just add a few inches to the header pipe.

So, the idea is to weld an extension? What type of welding and what type of pipe is used?

Any type really, tig/mig works the best, stick with thin rods and skill.
Any pipe/tube that is the same diameter.

I'm thinking the 212cc would need a 1" pipe? Is this correct?

Any good suggestions on where to buy 6" to a foot section?

Online is an option, but pickup is best.
Any steel house will have what you need.

I'm not too sure if I understand what the problem is.
