I haven't been on in a while, I've been way too busy with other stuff to do anything with may buggy. I recently logged back on and remembered that I was gonna buy a tubing notcher off Master Hack. I paid him for it and he shipped it out. I got it in today and did a test cut and it worked really well. I decided I'm gonna hammer out the mount for my 459 max predator and weld it in (this is what I wanted the notcher for). I am gonna work on getting the tubes notched and start fittting everything in before I weld anything. I also don't want to weld anything in until I know where my chain will be routed. For this I need to order a cvt.

This brings me to my main question, what is the best cheap cvt for the 1 inch shaft and 16hp? Thanks guys!

A 40 series torque converter is what you need. They are quite a bit more expensive than a 30 series. You can buy a 30 series to work with a 1" shaft .
I have used 30 series converters on extremely hopped up high rpm 212 engines
that were probably making 16hp. BUT they weren't anywhere near the torque your 459 will be putting out. I doubt once you started lean on it that the 30 series would last very long.

Alright, thanks guys. I don't really like the stamp steel backing plate, but it's the beat I can afford right now. I do olan on ordering a comet belt, but I want to measure everything and make sure I am getting the belt I need before I order a belt.

Now that is some sweet fitment! It fits nicely and will look worlds better. I need to get some more tubing now and I should be ordering the clutch in the next week or so. I am super excited to get this thing rolling again, I've been working on it off and on for the better part of 5 years.

Fyi this isn't where it will sit, this is just a test fit. I need to tale it back apart and clean the metal first before I even think about wleding it.

If the “stamped steel” plate is like mine, its plenty heavy duty. 3/16 steel, l believe. No l’m not runnung out to measure right now. I personally prefer steel over aluminum.
lts a lot easier to weld if necessary. The stamped part is only some “ ribs” for rigidity.

Btw put some oil on the spinny thing that yer drill attches to.
