Hi guys, I'm new here...this is actually my first post. (bear with me) Anyways, I got my first minibike, I clocked it with my gps at 29.2 mph, it has a stock 3.5 hp Briggs and I was wondering if you guys know of any basic mods I can do. Also, does anyone know where I can get minibike seats? I know gocartssupply.com has them but they are not the right length. I have to have a 14" seat and they only have 12"s and 19"s...

Thanks!

If you need a specially sized seat you can make one fairly easily and inexpensively, any local fabric store should sell foam, from there you just need the fabric, cut a piece of wood to fit and staple it on the back.

ok, but then how would I mount the wood + fabric and foam to the bare metal plate? Maybe some gorilla glue?

(thanks for the idea)

2 ways I can think of, 1, drill holes in the wood and put cartridge bolts down through the wood and drill holes in the plate according, or you could just use lag bolts which is simpler, either way you'll have to drill holes to mount it. I'd go with lag bolts.

I think my gov is already off, and I'll try the straight pipe idea...

2 question's though...

Where can I find a straight pipe fit for my engine?

Iv'e heard that if I drill holes through my muffler I can increase sound, and I can adjust the how it sounds by drilling more holes through the muffler, is this true?

Thanks for the responses guys! This really means alot to me, and I'll have some pics of the finished product soon!

if your throttle is connected directly to your buttrfly valve your running ungoverned.
i just used some npt gas pipe. i think it was 1 inch. just measure urs. 12 inchs is a good length for a strait pipe.
that is prbly true but im not sure if that will add power.

and do you guys have any ideas on how to tighten my rear disc brake? I also want to get a front brake but I'm not sure how i'd do that. Should I just use another disc brake in the front? Or maybe the kind of brakes you see on regular bicycles that rub against the rim with those two pads? Just thinking...

I have a redneck solution: On my homemade minibike we put a bicycle brake in the front , it is my only brake and it is very powerfull(I can't go over the handlebars)

Go to the hardware store and get some 3/4" Plumbing Pipe. At-least 12" Long, it will thread right into the motor. Eliminate the head gasket, thats about all you can do to that little guy

I ran into a little snag, when I took the muffler off, the part where I'm supposed to have my straight pipe, is rusted and I can't free it.

I can further explain my predicament in this detailed photograph...

But I'm happy the way it sounds without the muffler anyways...

Finishing up the seat and should have more pictures today...

Use vise grips on channel locks and remove the nut against the motor on that pipe then use vise grips to un thread the rest of the muffler. Don't run it like that, the exhaust is to short you will bend the valve

:bannana: Well as you can see, I got that rusted crap off (finally)

(kudos to solomon)

Now all that's left to do is to get some gas pipe from home depot and finish up the seat...
