Haven't posted in a while but i will hopefully be finishing the kart before the years end. That is if i stop buying more projects :roflol:

The front hubs from Fabroman are great, just need to finish the spindles and the front end is done.

Plan was to use the Victa engine but i found a great deal on a clone so i grabbed it. It has got electric start which i think i might move to the front so you can sit in the kart and start it but I'm not sure.

Just one question about the throttle linkage, I have looked at a ton of threads on this topic but can't seem to find what i am looking for. From my pedals there is a rod that goes back to the seat, from there i have to make something up.

One issue i see is there is no return spring on the engines current throttle control, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to set this up. going from the rod to maybe a cable? and some sort of return spring setup.

Thanks :)

Thanks, didn't see that. Now i know what to do about the spring. But I'm not sure how to go from the rod to the cable?

Maybe drill a small hole in the end of the rod and feed the cable through that?

Okay so i have ignored my go kart for a little while so i can work on building the trailer to take it places and my RM100.
But now i am finished school its time to get back to work

I bought my engine as "faulty" they were known to have starter motor issue and dodgy wiring, also broken bolts. I have checked over mine against the wiring diagram in the manual and have look at all the the bolts. all seem to be in order and i will have a go of getting it running
Question: the idle screw is nearly all the way in how far do i bring it out? the engine will be governed at a certain speed right?

I have been back upto school to use the lathe and i am working on the spindles for the front (photos comming). hoping to get them finished this week.

I am about to order the tyres for the front and back

http://www.tyresupermarket.com.au/products/4_10_3_50_6_4_K352_KENDA_TYRE-1195-0.html

next thing to do will be mounting up the rear axle and getting the engine on.

Start it up & wind out the screw until it doesn't sound like it's screaming. Now keep winding it out until it starts to splutter then go back in 1/4 of a turn & you should be just about spot on.

Once you've done that, check the mixture. When you open the throttle it should rev quickly & easily until the governor kicks in then it shoud rev smoothly. Let it off & it should drop back to a smooth idle

My spindles are complete.....nearly....

The photos say it all!!!

My first time on a lathe and cutting a thread, now just to make the rest of the spindle which shouldn't be to hard :p
That lovely hub in the photos was made by Fabroman!!

Why use the honda? its a vintage kart so why not have a vintage motor also? plus that old 2 stroke might be faster than the honda and it will definately sound better.

Right 'bout now, I'm guessing it's a good thing Y'all are on different continents!!!!!:lolgoku::cheers2:

Nah, all in good fun

Just some good humoured ribbing. :stir:

They are actually very well made.

I know they are  :roflol: Figjam :D

I was wondering when you would notice this. :D :D

I have no idea why it took me almost 2 weeks to see it. It must've been around the time of my "silence" & it just slipped through the cracks :D

Honestly i don't think it would be faster, main reason for the swap is i want something reliable that is designed to run horizontally and has a max revs so i can't blow it up haha.

I'm sure i will get to build another kart for the victa.

Not much happening with the cart need to buy some metal to finish off the spindles and waiting for the tyres to come in the mail.

any suggestions on how i should mount the engine to the current mount as the holes don't line up.

You could either make an adaptor plate, or simply drill new holes. New holes will be simpler if there's sufficient material there, but I suspect you'd want to slot them for adjustability.

Hate to break it to you, but it is designed to run horizontally, it just wasnt fitted as such on your model, the engine is the same though...

It also will last a very long time at those revs...especially if you drive it like a proper kart....you are pretty slow around the track hahahahahaha. OH and with a governor the Victa will be hugely faster (I WILL SMOKE YOU)
