I'm looking for a SUPER simple brake application and it looks like I've found the solution. However, I'm VERY interested in the C-clamp solution too. Did that ever come to fruition?

Speaking for myself, I never did it. You see, for the amount of fabrication and fooling around that is involved in doing so, I could more easily adapt a motorcycle hydraulic system, which I did. The principle is sound, I just never applied it.
