OK, well most of the parts are here. I had to go out today and pick up and a cut-off saw from Harbor Freight. I got the outside frame cut and starting to place engine, etc... I'm hoping to get the frame all welded up by the end of the weekend but need to finish laying things out. Unfortunately, I ran out of daylight, so I'll be back at it tomorrow!

Here's a few pics of the progress so far...

Well, I had planned on using Harbor Freight 10" Pneumatic tires, but I may have to rethink that. I was planning on having the couch sit around the frame, but now I've decided to have the couch sit ON the frame. (This gave me a few extra inches of motor clearance.)

In looking at the pics above (and on my driveway), the motor is a bit taller, so I need to raise the frame at least a couple more inches. I'm thinking golf cart or mower tires....

I don't suggest the 10" harbor freight tires, i think bluethunder had some problems with them.

Thanks. I changed the bearings out in the HF tires for now. It's coming together. Spent most of the day at my buddy Al's today... he did the welding while I cut. (Thanks Al for giving up your Sunday!). Here are some updated pics...

Al welding...

AddIng some height to accommodate the 16hp engine.

Got the casters On (purely used for weight support)

Fabricating the motor mount (Al's idea - thanks Bud)

Motor mount attached, adding steering support arms...

Just got back from Al's... Had to set the couch on top to see what it looked like. It's a little tall... Well see..... I'm tired. Calling it a day.

OK, here's a couple updates. I'm working on setting up the steering, just need some additional hardware. Also, I've decided to go with a single drive wheel in back (using a golf cart tire/wheel).
Note: the billet piece is not a steering wheel, it's actually hand controls (gas/brake)...

Hey Gang-
Sorry for the delay on posting. I've been busy trying to get this wrapped up before we leave for Sturgis. Here's the latest updates.....

Added steel cable supports for 'when the hood is open'....LOL.

Also added hinges for obvious reasons.

Of course, we have to make sure the 'couch functionality' is still working after all this movement....it still works!

Still working on figuring out how to mount the jackshaft. In the end, I found out this was incorrect - it's supposed to be loose....oops!

July 18th:
My next learning lesson: The golf cart tire is not going to work! DOH! Too big! ...back to Harbor Freight!

Found some cool tires at HF that will work just fine! They're trailer tires, so they'll handle the weight too. Love the look and fit of these billet hubs.

Drive axle put together to try and determine measurements.

Woohoo! Steering wheel FINALLY arrived!

July 21st:
After a few weeks of nightly couch building, my wifey said I had to take a day off! So, we're going for a boat ride from Stockton, CA to San Francisco, CA on my buddies 26ft boat. Very cool trip...and I needed the break! (She did too! LOL!)

Got the jackshaft welded on and the chain/sprocket on.

Unfortunately, due to raising the couch height, I had to extend my steering shaft.

Note to self: Don't forget to put the gloves back on after taking a break..... or cutting a steering shaft! OUCH!!!!

My older son Christian helping to decide how tall the steering wheel should be.

Starting to come together!

Got the battery holder built and battery in. (I just used some leftover angle iron from my garage door installation kit.
