I came across these 22 1/4" (eye to eye) coil overs for my full suspension mower project. It's pretty much all I need but it have questions on how to make them work for my needs.

First off, these seem a little confusing. Black bodied shocks say on a few websites, 22 1/4" un compressed, 14" compressed.

But on these chrome bodied shocks it says 22 1/4" uncompressed, 17 compressed.

I found it surprising because they look to be the same thing, but it sounds like it isn't. I need pretty much every bit of the travel, the 8" of travel. And looks like the black bodied ones are the only ones to offer that.

Now next deal on my front solid axle is I only want 3" of up travel and the rest for droop, so 3" from bump for ride height, but then have one full bump and other one extend full travel for articulation.

I know under the lets say, 100lbs of weight because of the big mower engine and chassis that it will compress but I don't know how much it will. Could I just delete the coil adjuster they have at the top of the shock body and move the spring up to achieve the right ride height, or is that not really a thing? The one add says it's 125lb springs, but I'm not to familiar with how spring rates work. Help appreciated.
