Assembled (bolted thru the rollers & also, clamped with vise grips) for weldin'

* Notice I included a washer?
It's so, I could bolt everything together good-n-tight, for weldin'
...then, I'll leave the washers out during final assembly
...so, the rollers can "spin freely" :2guns:

Weldin' tip of the day:

Besides your weldin' gloves, wear a "sleeve" of some kind (even in summer) to help protect your arm(s)
I use a cut-off "leg" section of an old pair of Denim pants, as a quick on/quick off sleeve :cornut:

...& it's kinda stylish too

I just put my hood on and raw dog it. I have the gear, I just don't bother beyond the hood unless I'm welding overhead and underneath like an exhaust system (which I hate doing immensely).

After weldin' & some clean up, I had ta do some trimmin'
...'cause (1) side is longer/taller than the other
...& extends higher than the roller

* It should look like the close end not the further away end ;)
SAM_2691 (1).JPG
So, I put 'em "back to back" (tall side & shorter side)
...used the roller bolt holes to help with alignment
...& clamped 'em (w/vise grips) for trimmin'
SAM_2692 (1).JPG
Now they B even :2guns:
...& NOT extend higher than the roller

Probably would have ta make a steel "backer"
...so, the teflon block didn't " de-form around the curved mount, on the truck
&
Counter sink the bolts
...still a "back up plan
Nuthin wrong with the current plan. Nice work as usual.

l’m not only cheap, but i’m lazy as well. I look for anything
that reduces actual work.As my bride reminds me often “yer a lazy cheap slob”.

* I got some disposable gloves
...'cause this sh*t get everywhere :ack2:
SAM_2713 (1).JPG
Yup, this stuff
SAM_2714 (1).JPG
Slathered it inside of the rollers
SAM_2716 (1).JPG
...& on the bolts too
SAM_2717 (1).JPG
Then, put 'em together

See, I got quite a bit on me too

Hey T,

Well, a couple of weeks ago, upon routine inspection, I noticed the right, rear roller unit was kinda twisted
SAM_2990 (1).JPG
Seems (1) of the 3/8" x 1" grade 8 bolts broke
SAM_2991 (1).JPG
So, I re-aligned the unit
...& replaced the bolt
SAM_2993 (2).JPG
Since then, they seem to be doin' good
...but, I'm still keepin' my eye on them
