We bought our kids a Coleman KT196 kart for christmas. They loved riding it but after a few weeks of riding the jackshaft 10T sprocket came off never to be seen again. I finally got around to buying a new sprocket and installing it. After install I noticed that the jackshaft sprocket doesn't line up with the axle sprocket. I don't see any way to move either sprocket to line things up.

Is my only option to stack washers to space the axle sprocket out some?

These aren't from my kart, but shows the two sprockets. The hub for the axle sprocket also holds the brake rotor with the caliper mounted to the go-karts frame so can't simply loosen the hub and move it over.

Did you install the correct factory part by part number? Nothing should have changed fitment wise. Does Coleman support have any input? Is there any chance a chunk of the jackshaft shaft itself could have flown off with the original sprocket making it too short? Makes no sense that it shouldn't be a quick install.

I suppose it's possible but it doesn't appear like it (smooth, finished ends, I went and looked at one that was unused at the store, which is where the pictures come from.

I'll double check the part. I ordered the part number from their parts fiche but I suppose they could've sent the wrong one.

Its not out of alignment enough to make the chain pop off but I"m sure it'll cause premature wear of the sprockets and/or chain.
