Hey, Im pretty amateur when it comes to go-karts as I've never made one before...Im making one from an old hospital bed as a school project...nearly 50% of my school credit so hopefully Ill do it properly...anyways... I have two hydraulic..rams?

they're exactly like the one on the right. I was wondering if it'd be possible to use them as suspension for the front tires, but if not any suggestions...got them for free and I really wanna use them haha...

Also, I need to know (or find a good guide) on how to rig up a speedo and tach, but my main focus is the steering and gears... I wanted to have a reverse and perhaps two (maybe three?) forwards gears...

any help with anything is greatly appreaciated..I'll attatch a picture of what I've got so far later...

Thanks!!

With some creativity, you might be able to get some damping action out of those rams, but I don't think the resilts will be worth the effort.

I keep staring at that pic... You sure those are hydraulic? I have my doubts- On a hospital bed? Hydraulic? I've never seen hydraulics on a hospital bed. Not portable. I did tear apart a craftmatic bed once, and it had a 120v linear actuator.

like I said, total amateur, but thats what the sticker said too. I just have to take my teachers word that it was a hospital bed.. Looked like a bed kinda thing when I hacked it to bits at least..

You could make a hydro-pneumatic suspension system (like Citroens have) but that would be over kill on a kart, you'd need access to some very specialised machines too.

Thanks
