I have an unknown brand rusted-out live-axle franken-kart that I'm trying to make road worthy for my son. Yesterday we tried to strip the axle of all its bits.
The toughest bit was one of the wheel hubs. In the process of removal, it was destroyed beyond repair (overzealous use of a gear puller and impact wrench).
I'm finding it difficult to find a replacement hub. Here's a basic description:
- 4 bolt pattern
- approx 3in bolt circle diameter (or 4in square)
- 7/8in bore with 1/4in keyway
- axle is 1in with a 7/8in step down
I've checked several sites and spent about an hour googling with no luck.
Any thoughts on where I might find a replacement?
If I can't find a replacement, what would it cost to have the axle turned at a machine shop to say 3/4in. Would that make it easier to find a hub that fits?
