How Much Voltage For A Killswtich?

Just curious what kind of voltage requirements a kill switch needs. I'm planning on using a push button style switch meant for a boat horn, so it's rated for 12v. Will that work? All it has to do is ground the ignition coil. This is on a Duromax 440 for reference.

That should work. But if it were me I’d use a regular toggle switch. This way if something were to happen off is OFF!

Absolutely. Definitely. Positively. No momentary contact switching at all for the killswitch, those are for start buttons. When you slap the killswitch it needs to stay slapped, motors when running don't quit in a split second.

I agree with installing the regular function switch. I never really understood the logic with equipment manufacturers using momentary kill switches. All 6 of my pieces of small equipment - back-pack blower, string trimmers, chainsaw, etc. all have momentary kill switches.
