Go Kart Shocks/Springs - HELP!!!

I've never taken go kart shocks/springs apart before.. I know that some can't be detached, but maybe these can? Im taking them off to refinish them.

Is there a secret to this or can someone point me in the right direction? It's a vector go kart.

BTW.. I've already detached them from the go kart.. had this pic from the past on my phone.

by refinishing you mean painting the coil?
Or do you want to refill the shock absorber and renew the shaft seal?

The information you want is at the top end right under the spring.
Either the head is threaded or welded on (I know no other type, I've heard there are pressed on head shock absorbers but I never seen any)

if you can move the coil downward you can tell just by looking at it.
Oh you have to move the grommet out of the way too

get yourself a coil spring compressor that eases things up.

If you only want to repaint the spring, just carefully tape the inside that'd be faster and easier.
