Maybe I'm missing something here, but the tooth count on equal diamitor sized sprockets drastically changes between say a 219 and a 520. It just doesn't seem like the top speed calculations would work out the same.

Ok, i think I've wrapped my brain around this concept. If i were to change sprockets from #219 to #520 of equal tooth count. The final drive ratio would remain unchanged because both the driver and driven would now be a larger diameter.

That's correct, the #520 chain and sprockets would just be a LOT heavier. :cool:
BTW, #520 is actually the chain that's going on my kart, it's the factory chain on an RM 250. :D

It works the same as actual gears, doesn't matter if they're 5 feet wide or 5mm wide, same teeth on both would turn out the same ratio.
