I don't recommend using this steering set up.

That's some Old School, Soap Box Derby technology (& construction) right there

IMO That level of "sophistication" should only be powered by gravity
...& NOT by several ponies
Gravity. Maybe pedal power. That whole kart is a hot mess and I can't look at it without having an aneurysm. Surprisingly, it doesn't seem to have dolly wheels. Unfortunately it also looks as if has been driven some.

Come on guys it is better than the first kart I ever built. He at least put on a brake. I steered mine with my feet on that cross member in front and it was direct drive. I agree if you pull hard on the steering column most likely it will break off but your feet are on the front axle board. For his or her first build it isn't bad. Granted any design came be improved upon but this person might be designing airplanes in the future and I want him in a good mood, right Orville?

Idkw much 👍

the front part where the steering pivots looks sketchy ah
how thick is that?
All it needs is some 10 penny 31/2” nails poking up through the seat to keep you from sliding out of it on sharp turns. Cheaper than seat belts!
lol go with what works ig

i have to say though, that space next to the engine looks perfect for a trunk, i hate not being able to carry things wiht me in the kart, you can probably put a backwards facing seat and a plate next to it to protect from the engine
for a kid oc
