I guess this is probably wayyyy of topic. go-kart, minibikes, my power wheels corvette. This is not that.

Okay so I had an itch and I had to scratch it. I need a new pc and i need a new desk. So why not build a new Computer desk PC all in one.

I'm a month or so into this. So maybe ill slowly release pictures Unless you want to see all my progress so far :)

After gathering some stuff, this is what i came up with in cad. I know missing a leg. but you get the design idea
fullrangeofdesk.png

Then off to home depot to see what wood i could get and what cuts they could do. Well do to safety reasons, they can cut down to 12" widths. I need 8" widths...what to do.

build cheap table saw. off to harbor freight for a $25 saw
20220320_163228.jpg
drill into it
20220320_163649.jpg
screw to table and cutout saftey push stick?
20220320_175354.jpg

And i need a good fence? So build one?
20220330_163232.jpg

okay wood cutting sorted out. I want glass top. off to craigslist. found a $25 glass table
20220316_141854.jpg
Perfect. hmm i need legs. back to craigslist. $50 electric table lift? sure why not
20220322_145407.jpg
A little to tall for my 9" deep design. Must cut it down to size and weld it back together.

....to be continued....

Need to get a #35 chain offset link. a little loose on one side and if i remove two links it will be too tight. couldn't find anywhere locally. so i ordered online. should be here tomorrow so i can finish assembly on this. Move back to desk part.

building up a front panel control. Power and up/down switch.

Up/Down switch a little loose. I'll probably use epoxy to hold it in place.

20220516_215552.jpg

Had some plastic polish from power wheel project. I think it helped a little. not sure.

Now i need to figure out how I'm going to mount in the desk case.

Profit have you gone completely insane! I watched you video how do you move so fast? Desks are supposed to be simple creatures. Like watching a freight train crash in real time, I’m fascinated by what you do. You know I’m only kidding right? Keep on, I’m watching.

Well i started looking at drawer assemblies online. And i realized i need a cross slide and a box joint jig. So i made one

Added some side rails to reference off of.
20220520_153059.jpg

Painted the top and added polyurethane
Then tried out some test pieces for the box joint.
20220521_173805.jpg
made a mistake at first. you need to flip the first part 180 to align the next piece cut. i forgot to flip it. oh well learning experience. I dont do a lot of wood work normally.

Then I cut up some pieces to make drawers with.

I have to say these 4 end pieces came out super nice and identical
20220521_221325.jpg
20220521_221330.jpg

And the rest of the pieces. 4 sides each and 2 side rails to put inside the desk and mount the drawer slides too. still un clear on how i will do this. but i'm taking it one day at a time.

Okay I'm just posting like 3 days worth of stuff all at once.

Today i finished building one drawer box. Had to run to store and pick up 1/4" ply for the bottom.

The bottom slot was a little tricky. but i figured out a decent process.
20220522_143811.jpg

Everything fits pretty tight. May need to sand it a little, to be loose fit for the glue to get in there.
20220522_144039.jpg

Should be just right for the desk
