Hey guys. I’m putting a 200ex back together. Looking at the parts diagram it shows on the triple tree a washer on top and a washer on the bottom. No washers in between, just the frame tube with the bearings and bolt.

I put it together like that. (I also found a small washer when I took it apart “between” the triple tree which wasn’t in diagram)

Anyway, there is a big gap at the bottom...or the top if I lift up. Is this intentional? Nothing is bent or messed up, it just seems odd to me. I am attaching pics of how I have the 2 washers and the gap I’m talking about. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

PS...is there a torque spec for this through bolt?
And unrelated but what about a torque spec for the front and rear axles?

Was it that way before you took it apart?

Horrifying thing to put something back together and it’s not the same, or better yet, when you have parts left over. :( :)

Suffice to say, eliminating the slop, the gap, the play between two parts is a good thing.... to an extent. You need a little play to prevent binding.

It was like this when I took it apart...but these bikes require assembly by the end user (weird dude I bought it from). Anyway, I found the assembly manual online. It does show 2 small washers not revealed in the parts diagram. I’ll pick up a second washer today. If the gap is still too big another guy recommended loosening the lower fork clamps and sliding them up
A few MMs.
