Took the minibike out for a spin today, about half a mile away the clutch started slipping bad, I was able to limp it back home.

The old 13 series claims it's first victim

Never had one fail in such a manner, this one was in service for 3 years.

Anybody else have some clutch failures to share?

Oh gosh, is that a Hilliard Extreme Duty??? What a shame.
What exactly happened? Did the dust cover bend and catch or something?

Nothing I own has covers lol

Just torque and fatigue, a knockoff from the clearance section of BMI karts or ebay

It was the last ride before was going to put the predator back on, perhaps I angered the briggs and stratton gods.

Ahaa there's your 'problem' *giggle*

while the MaxTorque SS doesn't mind at all to run inboard,
some copies obviously do!

inferior material for the baseplate is all it takes..
and inboard the shoes are trying to bend the tabs back straight with every jerk,
and the tiniest bit of movement of the tab can work harden the baseplate enoug to cause such failure over time (well obviously ;))..
Frankly, I haven't seen such failure yet,
but seeing it I'm not exactly surprised to hear it's a chinese clone clutch.

I would be to see such on a Maxtorque or Hilliard
(I wonder why one wants such if the original Maxtroque SS is not more expensive really
just more rugged :D)

Anyways.. thanks for sharing.

great to see a clutch failing that's not blued over entirely due to bad gearing
or rusted all the way through due to bad maintenance every now and again

'sid

PS really? you bolted a predator in?
I don't judge..
but personally I liked the 'old school' theme you got going on there...
and an OHV ruins that a bit IMHO.

PPS IIRC maxtorque sells spare base plates.. I wonder if it'd fit ;)

I think I have a worn out max torque I can rob parts from, worth a shot

The briggs is due for some service, it seeps oil everywhere and I want a more aggressive cam. Plus fresh paint for extra power

It will go back on soon, its easy to swap
