Hi guys, I have here a question about identifying what size/number chain and sprocket I have. How do you figure out what size a sprocket or chain is if you don't know? I need to be certain.
Chain Number Pitch Roller* Width*
#35 3/8 .200 3/16
#40 (#425) 1/2 .312 5/16
#41 1/2 .306 1/4
#410 (#43) 1/2 .306 1/8
#415 (#42) 1/2 .306 3/16
#420 1/2 .306 1/4
#425 (#40) 1/2 .312 5/16
#428 1/2 .335 5/16
#520 5/8 .400 1/4
#525 5/8 .400 5/16
#530 (50) 5/8 .400 3/8
*Roller Diameter
*Width between inner plates
And if you also measure the roller diameter and width (inside) of the chain you can precisely identify the chain number..

I just figured it out. Thanks for the help...btw whats the difference between 41 chain and 420 chain?
i think i could add pin diameters, tensile strength and maybe plate thicknesses as well...
But i'm not sure it'd reduce confusion
But you're right.. I should have removed the h values (since they're identical except for the plate thickness and or pin diameters
done!
