Carter Bros XTV 150

Hello all:

I'm new to this site. Looks like a lot of people sharing cool pictures and ideas. I wanted to reach out. I have a Carter Bros XTV 150cc. I have done a bigger carb swap. New brake caliper and master cylinder. Next I would like fix the steering. I haven't found anything online, that even comes close to what is on the cart now. I have access to a water jet. Out tech said he could make one. Was wondering if it would just be " better and easier " to swap it with rack and pinion. Here are some pics of the cart and steering. Any ideas would be appreciated.
